Change is human.

It's also inevitable.

So why do we resist change so much?

Because we get stuck in patterns. Because it's easier. Because envisioning new ways takes work. It requires thinking differently. It requires new thinking.

The thing is, there's ALWAYS NEW possibilities out there.

Recently, I decided to do a visual rebrand of my business, Abound Innovation Inc. My business is over three years old and I felt it's time for a refresh.


As I've been doing this, while I’ve been excited for it, I've also resisted it. Logo design is not one of my specialties. I’ve always struggled with logo design over the years, so I knew it wouldn't be an easy task to reimagine what it be. However, as an innovator, I felt there were new possibilities around the corner I haven’t yet considered. 🧠

🚀 Today, I'm introducing the new logo design of Abound Innovation. I'm really happy to go through this visual rebranding exercise because it's helped me rethink things and open up more possibilities.


➡️ The colour choices of orange and yellow represents colours of innovation and creativity.

➡️ The two typographic treatments signal boldness and energy. After all, doesn’t innovation require both boldness and energy?

➡️ The icon I created is a lightbulb with a brain in the middle, a pointed tip, and a thought bubble behind it. This is an icon of innovation: Thinking differently, generating new ideas, an idea capturing your brain and you recording the idea.

  • The lightbulb represents ideas.
  • The brain in the middle represents ideas in our brain.
  • The cloud behind it represents thinking and thoughts.
  • The pointed tip on the lightbulb represents a pencil, recording ideas.

I would never have been able to imagine this possibility without embracing change and I’m beyond happy with it. 🙌🏻

⚙️ Change does take effort. I’ll need to back through my entire innovation curriculum of handouts, worksheets, presentations, visual assets and website to apply the new branding, but it’s so worth it.

Personally, I found this process VERY refreshing for my brain. 🌱

And that's the power of change. When appropriate, it's SO refreshing.

💧Change is like a refreshing cold glass of ice water on a hot, summer's day. ☀️

It just hits the spot.

🤔 There’s ALWAYS more possibilities out there. The question is, will you pursue it? Will you change? Will you innovate?

👀 Take a moment and consider this: What in your work could use a refresh? What could use some change? Have you been looking or doing something the same way for a long time? Is it time for things to be different?

💡 Don’t resist change. Go with it. Explore the possibilities. You’ll be refreshed and your brain will thank you for it.
